Parking in Chatswood CBD
Chatswood Central Business District (CBD) is a major shopping, cultural, entertainment and employment centre. The CBD has good access for visitors by rail, metro, bus, roads, bicycle and walking.
There are opportunities to park your motor vehicle both off street in public car parks and on street.
Types of parking
Off-street parking
There are a range of public and privately owned carparks across the Chatswood CBD.
Use of the off street car parks is strongly encouraged as these facilities are:
- conveniently located across the CBD, with quick and direct access from major roads
- close to all major destinations
The public car parks provide convenient undercover parking at a reasonable charge.
On-street parking
Chatswood CBD streets provide a diverse range of parking opportunities including unrestricted, timed and meter pay parking.
Please note: Visitor parking is limited due to the need to support public transport and traffic control. The spaces that are available are typically always in high demand. A fee is applied to timed parking spaces to encourage turnover and availability.
No parking
You must not park on a road or in an area where there’s a ‘No parking’ sign. This may be all the time or at certain times, as shown on the sign.

You can stop for less than 2 minutes if you stay within 3 meters of your vehicle, if you’re:
- dropping off or picking up passengers,
- loading or unloading items.
No stopping
The 'No stopping' sign means you must not stop at any point on the road or kerb in the direction of the arrow, unless in an emergency.

'No stopping' areas are sometimes marked by an unbroken yellow edge line.
Privately owned and operated car parks
Information on the location and operating arrangements of privately owned and operated public car parking stations can be found on their websites.
Service and trade vehicles
Service and trade vehicles are strongly encouraged to park in the off-street loading bay and service vehicle car park of their customer’s building at all times. The use of off street parking facilities improves access to the work site and safety for everyone.
Park'n'Pay - Metered pay parking
Chatswood CBD ticket parking machines uses Park'nPay, a smartphone app developed by NSW Government aimed at improving the parking experiences for its citizens.
The app provides the convenience of use across a number of local government areas in NSW, including a top up function and reminder alerts of time expiry.
