Queen’s music is part of our history and reaches across generations and eras like no other band can. Everyone knows their music, has no doubt stomped and clapped along and sung their lyrics. We Will Rock You (WWRY) was written by Ben Elton as a tribute to the late Freddie Mercury.
It is based upon the idea of a world dominated by media technology where live music is a threat to the marketing machine. Where kids are not part of their own loop. They get their entertainment downloaded to them directly. Even though this show is set 300 years in the future, like any dystopian vision, it is actually about now. WWRY is about the isolating effect of technology, the need to make live music and the journey as the Bohemians fight for live music to become central again to the communal experience.
