Find foodie heaven at the Chatswood Year of the Pig Festival 2019

Attention foodies! This summer, it’s time to celebrate the flavours of the world with a journey through the delectable food hot spots participating in the Chatswood Year of the Pig Festival 2019. The three week long cultural festival celebrating the Lunar New Year and the cultural diversity of Chatswood will feature an array of Asian delicacies and food experiences to discover. Foodies should mark their diary with the festival dates, January 29th to February 19th 2019 to ensure they don’t miss out on the annual event’s delicious offering.

Labelled Sydney’s newest ‘Little Asia’, Chatswood is home to many hidden food gems that regularly make the locals’ mouths water. Now, insider knowledge will be revealed as the festival shines a light on the best places to eat and shop in Chatswood. The Golden Market, Taste of Asia Food Tours and restaurants Hai Di Lao, Chao Ba, General Chao, and Mama Mulan, are just some of the highlights visitors can expect to enjoy.

Taste of Asia Food Tours

For those who want the comprehensive food experience, the Taste of Asia Food Tours will satisfy and then some. These tours will run regularly throughout the festival and will take visitors on a guided journey where they will share authentic, modern and fusion cuisine, and hear stories of food, history and culture at Chatswood’s best foodie destinations. Authentic, family-owned restaurants are guaranteed to delight visitors’ tastebuds as they eat their way through Chatswood. Tastes of Japan, China, Hong Kong and Korea are on the unmissable tour’s map and menu. Visitors can book through Taste Tours via their website.

The Golden Market

The local Chatswood Mall Markets will house the festival’s Golden Market, a replica of the end-of-year market commonly found in cities across Asia. Here, food lovers will find a sea of stalls and a mix of mouth-watering aromas. At the risk of having too many options to try in thebao one visit, the Golden Market will be a spot to go back to again and again. There will be an exciting line-up of Asian cuisines, including tastes of Singapore, Malaysia and Taiwan. The sound of talented musicians spread throughout the lively market will also complement the food as visitors choose a meal. The Golden Market will run in the Chatswood Mall from the 29th of January to the 8th of February.

Hai Di Lao

This new restaurant opening at Westfield Chatswood in January 2019 is set to be a highlight for foodies. Hai De Lao is a chain of international hot pot restaurants founded in China in 1994. The restaurant is known for its quality customer service and for offering a variety of free services and entertainment for customers that include: board games, snacks and manicures. On level 6, Hai De Lao is just one of the different food options found in Westfield Chatswood. Foodies can also head down a few levels to discover Chatswood’s popular Hawker Lane, an Asian marketplace boasting 15 different cuisines in a buzzing atmosphere.

Chao Ba

At The Concourse, visitors can find Chao Ba, a Vietnamese restaurant using only the best local produce to make their meals with love. A homage to the Vietnamese culture, which is warm, generous and welcoming, Chao Ba’s nurturing spirit shines through their menu of delicious food that includes popular dishes such as vermicelli salad bowls and Banh Hoi boards. General Chao

Opening at the Chatswood Interchange in early December 2018 is the much-anticipated General Chao restaurant. General Chao offer unique pan-Asian food and inspired cocktails to impress. The flame and theatre of their menu will entice visitors into a world of delectable flavours that will make for an unforgettable experience. The festival is the perfect excuse for visiting foodies to try the new restaurant.

Mama Mulan

For those with a preference for delicious handmade dumplings and noodles, Mama Mulan at The Concourse will be your favourite. Mama Mulan re-imagines modern Chinese dining with a menu of crowd-pleasing favourites served in a beautifully designed setting. Visitors can enjoy intimate date nights or lively group get-togethers where staff will welcome you with style, warmth and character.
